Expands the lineup of Leon models offered by Cupra with the addition of Sportstourer Wagon and hybrid variants.
The Spanish performance brand, CUPRA, is expanding its Australian line-up with the introduction of a new Leon Sportstourer wagon and a wider choice of hybrid and performance drivetrains.
The Leon Sportstourer VZe: A Plug-in Hybrid Powerhouse
The new Leon Sportstourer VZe is equipped with CUPRA's latest plug-in hybrid powertrain. This cutting-edge technology combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a 20kWh battery, delivering a system output of 200kW and 400Nm. The Sportstourer VZe can travel up to 121km on electric power alone (WLTP), with a claimed fuel use of just 0.4L/100km. Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h takes a brisk 7.3 seconds.

The updated CUPRA Leon range offers a variety of models, each with its unique features.
The Leon S Hatch
The Leon S hatch comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, producing 110kW. It boasts a claimed fuel use of 5.4L/100km. Standard features include 18-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone climate control, heated sports front seats, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless phone integration, and a 10-airbag safety suite. The Leather & Sound package, priced at $2,200, adds Moonslate leather upholstery and a 12-speaker Sennheiser audio system.
The VZx Hatch
The VZx hatch takes performance to the next level with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine developing 221kW and 400Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. It comes with 19-inch forged alloys, quad exhausts, adaptive suspension, upgraded brakes, and specific drive profiles. For an additional $7,600, the Extreme Package includes Cupra bucket seats, an Akebono brake package, and Matrix headlights.
The Sportstourer: Practicality and Performance in One Package
The Sportstourer model, in addition to its spacious wagon body, comes with 19-inch alloys, adaptive suspension, 12-speaker audio, power tailgate, and roof rails.
Pricing and Availability
The Leon S hatch will start at $46,990, while the VZx hatch will begin at $64,990. The new Leon Sportstourer VZe plug-in hybrid will be priced at $69,990. Test drives and orders for the updated CUPRA Leon range will open in October 2025, with deliveries beginning in November 2025.
Customers can choose from ten colours across the range, including three matte finishes. Premium paint costs an additional $620, while matte paint costs $2,650. A panoramic roof can be added to the Leon Sportstourer for an additional $2,000.
The new plug-in hybrid drivetrain in the Cupra Leon Sportstourer is developed within the Volkswagen Group, combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor, as part of the latest Volkswagen Group plug-in hybrid system.
