Expansion of Care Provider Networks Underway

In a heartwarming development, a comprehensive training programme focused on providing daily support services for elderly individuals was held in the Landkreis and the city of Landshut on June 4, 2025. The initiative, a collaboration between the district authority and the Alzheimer Society of Nuremberg, aimed to prepare helpers for both voluntary and non-voluntary service provision, as stated by Elisabeth Strasser, the senior commissioner of the Landkreis.

The training, spanning over 30 lessons, was designed to equip helpers with the skills needed to offer outpatient support services according to § 45a SGB XI. These services, which can be provided by professional service providers or voluntary individuals, include household services and daily companionship. The goal was to support and accompany those with psychological and geriatric psychiatric illnesses, as well as to relieve caring family members.

Outpatient support services are intended for individuals with care level I, who can generally take care of themselves. Topics covered during the training included interacting with a neighbour or relative with dementia, communication methods, and appropriate attitudes for helpers. The training also delved into support in household management, encompassing hygiene and cleaning in private households, nutrition and catering, and accident prevention.

Two-thirds of the training time was dedicated to "Dealing with people in need of care and with dementia." This segment aimed to equip helpers with the necessary skills to provide care and support to those affected by dementia.

Elisabeth Strasser expressed her gratitude for the commitment of the speaker, Renate Frischhut, and the participants. However, it appears that there is no relevant information available in the provided search results about the identity of Renate Frischhut or her involvement in training for daily care services.

The care insurance funds provide a monthly relief allowance of 131 euros for outpatient support services. The high demand for this training, as evidenced by the attendance of 19 participants, led to the announcement of a repeat of the training offer for the coming year.

This training session marks an important step in strengthening the support network for elderly people in the Landkreis, ensuring that those in need receive the care and companionship they deserve.
