Exploration of Art and Merchandise: An Underground Voyage in the Basement, Amounting to 16 Items
The Basement 16 Gallery in Bensberg is set to host an exciting art fair titled "A Journey Through Time" from August 23 to September 7, 2025. Organiser Marlis Sauer aims to make the event more personal and encourage social exchange.
The fair will feature works from six renowned galleries and 13 individual artists. Jutta Radicke will show the work of Julius-Hendrik Heims at the fair, while Kunstraum Villa Friede will exhibit the work of Ren Rong. Artist Manuele Klein will present miniature worlds with partly KI-generated images, and Lars-Ulrich Schnackenberg will show surreal-looking photographs on canvas that he has painted with an experimental wax technique.
Co-organiser Gabriela Hain explains that it was challenging to choose participants due to limited space, and they selected based on a certain "chemistry" that fits the concept. She believes that artists are seismographs of their time and stand for important social themes. The "journey through time" theme touches on current societal themes such as migration, climate change, and artificial intelligence.
Gabriela Hain will present the artistic estate of her father, Cologne artist Erhard Hain (1925-2010), at the fair. Detlef Weigand from Königswinter will show works that provoke with morbid found objects and text fragments in the series "Dialectical Social Dadaism."
The fair will also include a laudation by Prof. Dr. Dieter Ronte and musical accompaniment by Frank Muschik on the piano. During the artist talk, eight artists will be present and conduct a tour, discussing their art with the audience.
Martine Seibert-Raken believes the fair is a good opportunity for creatives and art lovers to engage in creative exchange. She is exhibiting part of her series "once upon a time" at the fair, featuring a cloud made of pink-colored wire.
Prices of the artwork will be displayed and can be purchased through Kunstgenuss. The artist's installation symbolizes a positive future vision and exchange. The fair promises to be an immersive and thought-provoking experience for all art enthusiasts.
