Famous grocery store chains Rewe, Netto, and Edeka announce another salami recall from a prominent sausage manufacturer
Franz Wiltmann GmbH & Co. KG Recalls Rein Rind Salami Due to Bacteria Presence
In a precautionary measure, German food producer Franz Wiltmann GmbH & Co. KG has announced the recall of its Rein Rind Salami 50g product. The recall is due to the presence of bacteria that can cause severe digestive problems.
The affected batch, L2521100010, has a minimum shelf life of 01.10.2025. This salami was sold nationwide at supermarkets including Rewe, Netto, Edeka, Kaufland, and others.
The recall was initiated following the detection of disease-causing pathogens during investigations. The discovery of E. coli bacteria in the product prompted the recall, as previously reported at the beginning of August.
Consumption of the affected salami may lead to infection, typically manifesting within a week with diarrhea and abdominal cramps. Infants, young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk from this infection. In rare cases, children may experience complications such as acute kidney failure.
The manufacturer warns against consumption of the salami, as a health risk cannot be ruled out. Customers are advised to return the affected salami at the point of sale for a refund, regardless of whether they have a receipt or not.
It is important to note that the recall affects only the Rein Rind Salami 50g product, not any other products from Franz Wiltmann GmbH & Co. KG. The company has assured that no other products are affected by this recall.
The recall was announced by the company, and they urge customers to check their purchases for the affected batch. For more information, customers can contact Franz Wiltmann GmbH & Co. KG directly.
This is not the first time that Franz Wiltmann GmbH & Co. KG has had to recall a product due to bacterial contamination. In August, the company recalled the Wiltmann Rein Rind Salami due to the discovery of E. coli bacteria in the product.
As always, it is important to follow food safety guidelines and to be cautious when consuming food products. If you have any concerns about a food product, always contact the manufacturer or retailer for more information.
