Fatal Car Crash in Hersbruck Neighborhood Seeks Eyewitness Accounts

In the Hersbruck area, district of Nürnberger Land, a tragic traffic accident occurred on Wednesday, May 5, 2025, at approximately 15:10. The incident involved an Opel Cascada and a VW Golf on the B14 road, leading from Reichenschwand to Happurg.

The Opel Cascada, driven by a 68-year-old individual, was overtaken by a light-colored car with a child in the rear seat. For unknown reasons, the driver of the suspected culprit, who was operating a gray VW Golf, steered onto the left, opposite lane, colliding with the oncoming Opel Cascada.

Despite immediate resuscitation efforts, the driver of the VW Golf succumbed to his severe injuries at the scene. The Opel Cascada spun off the road into the adjacent ditch, and the driver was taken to a hospital with moderate but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the light-colored car, along with a male and female passenger, are being sought as important witnesses. The make of the light-colored estate is currently unknown. The Hersbruck Police Station is urging the occupants of the light-colored estate to contact them immediately on 09151 8690-0.

Additionally, the Hersbruck Police Station is looking for a car driver who was ahead of the mentioned Opel Cascada and was also driving towards the suspected culprit. A light-colored estate was driving ahead of the VW Golf on the B 14 towards Reichenschwand at the time of the accident and was able to pass the VW Golf, which was veering to the left, without incident.

The accident resulted in the death of a 77-year-old man, the driver of the VW Golf. The driver of the Opel Cascada was taken to a hospital with injuries. The Hersbruck Police Station is seeking any drivers who may have been in the vicinity of the accident scene at the time to come forward with any information they might have.
