Fatal Hopewell accident involves individual from Oswego
In the early hours of August 13, a tragic single-vehicle crash occurred along Route 5 & 20 near 3735 State Route 5&20 in the Town of Hopewell. The Ontario County Sheriff's Office and Coroner's Office are currently investigating the incident.
The victim of the crash was identified as 32-year-old Benjamin Best of Oswego. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree.
The crash happened just after 7 a.m., and emergency crews from Canandaigua Ambulance and the Hopewell Fire Department assisted at the scene. Route 5 & 20 was closed for several hours between Freshour Road and Mumby Road during the investigation.
