Federal Police Deny Moldovan's Entry and Arrest Request by Authorities
A 51-year-old woman from Moldova found herself in legal trouble once again, this time in Germany. On August 25, 2022, she was arrested by federal police officers at Frankfurt am Main Airport.
The woman had previously been convicted by the Wuppertal Regional Court in October 2020, sentenced to 5 years in prison for illegally dealing in narcotics in 11 cases. Her original prison sentence was 5 years, with 550 days remaining. However, in a surprising turn of events, the competent public prosecutor's office decided to waive the remaining 550 days of her prison sentence.
This decision, though it may have seemed lenient, did not go unnoticed. The woman was already subject to a national ban on entry and residence, which now extends beyond 2028 due to the waived prison sentence. Despite this, she attempted to re-enter the federal territory, leading to an investigation against her.
The Federal Police Directorate Airport Frankfurt am Main is the authority handling her case. They confirmed that the arrest was based on a wanted notice, and that her entry into the federal territory was denied by the competent public prosecutor's office. The woman's entry ban now extends beyond 2028.
In May 2023, the city of Wuppertal ordered her deportation due to a negative legal prognosis. The Federal Police (Bundespolizei) prevented her from re-entering the federal territory in July 2023. Her deportation took place directly from detention.
