Fervent Broncos supporters journey from Mexico to roar for their beloved team in Denver
In the heart of Denver, Colorado, the Broncos Libre Tailgate brought together a diverse group of fans for the season home opener at Empower Field at Mile High. Among the attendees were fans from Mexico, some of whom had traveled great distances to show their support for their beloved team.
One such fan is Omar Cisneros, the International Broncos Fan of the Year for 2023. His passion for the Broncos began when he followed John Elway and the team's visits to Mexico. Cisneros, a resident of Monterrey, Mexico, has been a Broncos fan for over 30 years and actively supports Broncos fans in various Mexican cities.
Ron Katz, the Broncos Fan of the Year in 2021, was also present at the tailgate. He expressed his admiration for the diversity and inclusivity of the Broncos fanbase, stating, "It's just fantastic how, especially now in our society, you need to bring people together and people from different countries for our love of football."
The event was described as a "real who's who among Broncos faithful." Alongside Cisneros and Katz, fans from cities across Mexico, including Monterrey, Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Hermosillo, gathered to celebrate their shared love for the team.
Alejandro Villalobos, a fan from Chihuahua, has been a Broncos fan for 30 years due to his brother living in Colorado. Despite ongoing immigration tensions, Villalobos expressed his commitment to the team, stating, "We're not afraid. We have our license, our life, and whatever happens, happens."
The passion and dedication of these Mexican Broncos fans have been recognised with awards, such as Cisneros being named International Broncos fan of the year for 2023. Their American friends are pleased with the dedication and support shown by these Mexican Broncos fans.
