Fiat's compact crossover version of the Panda undergoes an electric makeover for the modern era

The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as Fiat unveils its latest creation - the Grande Panda. This new model marks the beginning of a fresh family of functional-yet-fun vehicles from the renowned manufacturer.

The Grande Panda is a significant leap forward from its smaller predecessor, the Panda model, which has been a staple in many markets. The new vehicle boasts a larger size, with a length of 3.99 meters, making it more spacious and versatile.

One of the standout features of the Grande Panda is its impressive technology. It comes equipped with a 10-inch digital driver display and a 10.25-inch center screen, ensuring a seamless and modern driving experience.

Fiat has paid homage to the original 1980 Panda model in the design of the Grande Panda. The dashboard, dominated by a long lozenge-shape, is a nod to the iconic design of the past, while still offering a fresh and original look.

The Grande Panda will be available in a variety of exterior colours, allowing customers to personalise their vehicle to their liking.

When it comes to power, the Grande Panda offers a choice between a 100hp hybrid version and an electric variant. The launch-spec 44kWh battery of the EV version promises a range of 199 miles, making it an attractive option for those seeking an eco-friendly vehicle.

The hybrid edition provides 412 litres of storage space, while the EV version offers a 361-litre boot below the rear hatch.

Fiat's commitment to innovation is evident in the EV version's world-first connected charging cable that stays attached to the car, making charging a hassle-free experience.

The Grande Panda EV's decent ride and steering capabilities, tailored for urban environments, ensure a comfortable and enjoyable driving experience. The interior offers decent cabin space upfront, providing ample room for passengers.

The launch of the Grande Panda is part of Fiat's strategy to diversify its product line and reduce over-reliance on the 500 model. The company plans to expand the Panda family by one model per year for the next three years, potentially resulting in a range of vehicles worthy of the name.

In early 2025, the Grande Panda will make its debut in showrooms. For those interested, the price for the hybrid version starts from £18,975, while the EV starts from £20,975, as listed on Fiat.co.uk.

A "bigger sister" model of the Grande Panda is due to be released in 2026, further expanding Fiat's lineup of practical and stylish vehicles. The Grande Panda is set to be a game-changer in the automotive industry, offering a blend of modern technology, iconic design, and practicality.
