FIFA's 2026 World Cup ticket sales are commencing soon. Here's a breakdown of the process.
The much-anticipated FIFA World Cup 2026, co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, is gearing up for its ticket pre-sale. Here's a rundown of the key details for Canadian football fans.
CanadaRed members will have the opportunity to request conditional tickets for potential Canada knockout-round games. To secure a spot in the pre-sale, Canadians must first register with FIFA and be 18 or older, possessing a Visa card. The pre-sale for Visa cardholders starts on September 10 and ends on September 19.
The initial pre-sale will involve approximately one million tickets, with the pre-sale covering all 104 games of the expanded 48-team tournament. Fans can purchase up to four tickets per game, for a maximum of 40 tickets.
The cheapest ticket for group-stage matches is $60, while the most expensive ticket for the championship game is $6,730. It's important to note that the full tournament landscape will not be known until the Dec. 5 draw in Washington, D.C.
Canadians can also enter a separate lottery for a chance to purchase tickets for Canada's games, but they must be a member of the CanadaRed supporters group. The number of tickets available for Canadians in the CanadaRed lottery will be smaller due to tickets earmarked for FIFA, sponsors, media, and premium hospitality packages.
After the pre-sale, other ticket windows will follow in the first two quarters of 2026. The "Early Ticket Draw" registration window is expected to run from October 27-31, with purchase timeslots available from mid-November to early December.
In a move to prevent ticket scalping, FIFA plans to launch its own resale platform for tickets. Fans will be able to apply for specific matches with knowledge of who plays where during these later windows. The random draw for the Visa pre-sale will be held after the pre-sale window closes, and winners will be notified by email by Sept. 29.
It's worth mentioning that fans of other countries can buy a team-specific package and get a refund in case their team doesn't qualify. Canadians, however, cannot be seated in the Canadian supporters' section at the stadium if they win tickets through the lottery.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 promises to be an exciting event, and with the ticket pre-sale now in sight, the anticipation is building among football fans across the globe. Stay tuned for more updates on the ticket sales and the tournament itself.
