In a series of events over the past two days, Thai and Cambodian nationals have been arrested in the Aranyaprathet district of Sa Kaeo for illegal border crossing.

On Thursday, 15 Cambodian nationals were apprehended for crossing the border illegally. The group consisted of six men, six women, two boys, and one girl. Upon investigation, it was found that they were unemployed and without income in their home country, facing food shortages, which led them to cross the border illegally in search of work in Thailand. Unfortunately, none of the Cambodian nationals had travel documents.

The Cambodian guide, who was responsible for guiding the group across the border, managed to flee during the operation. The Cambodian nationals were taken to Khlong Nam Sai police station for legal proceedings.

In a similar incident on Friday, 12 Thai nationals were arrested for illegal border crossing. They were recruited via a Facebook page offering jobs near the Rong Klueo border market in Aranyaprathet district. Upon arrival in Aranyaprathet district, the Thai nationals were taken to a resort before being driven by a pickup truck to the border.

However, the Thai nationals were unaware that they would be sent to work in Cambodia, contrary to what had been promised online. The driver instructed them to continue on foot through a sugarcane field, where they were to wait for a Cambodian guide to take them across the border.

The Thai nationals were spotted walking through a sugarcane plantation toward Cambodia at about 3am on Friday. All 12 Thais were taken to the Ranger Company 1206 for further questioning. Interestingly, all the Thai nationals carried proper identification.

The investigation into these incidents is continuing, and authorities are working to ensure the safety and well-being of those involved, as well as to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
