Fire Breaks Out at Barn in Dötlingen Municipality - Costly Night-Time Firefighting Effort for Multiple Fire Departments

Breaking News: Fire at Agricultural Barn in Hockensberg's Dötlingen District

A fire broke out in an agricultural barn in Hockensberg's Dötlingen district at around 02:39 on Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, the building at "Stadtweg" street was fully engulfed in flames.

Luckily, a timely firebreak was established, preventing the flames from spreading to an adjacent residential building. However, a neighboring vacant stable building was also affected by the fire. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the firefighting operation or the fire itself.

Over 80 firefighters were on the scene to combat the fire, with additional units dispatched from Brettorf, Dötlingen, Neerstedt, and Wildeshausen. The asbestos-containing hall roof complicated the firefighting operation, so firefighting was primarily conducted from outside to ensure the safety of the crews.

The water supply for the firefighting operation was secured via hydrants and a nearby stream. The affected hall housed several vehicles and gas cylinders, but the exact nature and extent of the damage are yet to be fully assessed. Preliminary estimates suggest property damage of approximately 400,000 euros.

The police have secured the scene of the fire, and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing by the relevant authorities. The responsible party for investigating the cause of the fire at the agricultural farm in Dötlingen, Hockensberg, is the local fire department in cooperation with the police authorities.
