Fire in Eichenbrink Street, Bad Pyrmont: Workshop Blaze, Firefighter's Tragic Death

A fire incident rocked Eichenbrink Street in Bad Pyrmont on Friday, 29th August, 2025. The fire, which started in a workshop adjacent to a residential building, was reported by two witnesses at approximately 15:40.

Upon arrival, the responding fire departments found the workshop engulfed in flames. Fortunately, no people were present in the house at the time of the fire. A neighbour had already managed to rescue a dog from the burning structure before the fire brigade's arrival.

Approximately 120 personnel from the fire departments of Hagen, Bad Pyrmont, Holzhausen, Löwensen, Thal, and Kleinenberg were involved in the firefighting operation. The fire departments were able to prevent the flames from spreading to the living area.

Preliminary findings suggest that a technical malfunction may have caused the fire. However, the exact cause of the fire and the death of a firefighter from Kleinenberg shortly after the firefighting operation remain under investigation. The police in Bad Pyrmont have initiated an investigation into the fire.

The deceased firefighter was 25 years old. The police investigation is ongoing, and no clear connection has been established between the fire, the firefighting effort, and the firefighter's death. The police have no indications of such a connection, and the cause remains unclear.

The estimated damage from the fire is a mid-five-figure amount. For further inquiries, contact Stefanie Ockenfeld at the Police Inspectorate Hameln-Pyrmont/Holzminden.
