Fire in a house in the Vahrenwald district of Hanover, FW Hannover

In the heart of Hannover, a fire broke out in a multi-family house on Vahrenwalder Straße at noon today. The busy street was promptly closed in the city direction as the fire and rescue services of Hannover sprang into action with 15 vehicles and 34 emergency personnel.

The operation, which lasted approximately one and a half hours, began with an initial dispatch for a room fire. Upon arrival, however, it was determined to be an apartment fire. The affected apartment's residents were already safe when the fire department arrived.

The search for the source of the fire led one house resident to be found in the heavily smoked stairwell. They were transported to a Hanover hospital with smoke inhalation and burn injuries. Unfortunately, four police officers inhaled smoke and complained of minor coughing symptoms, they drove to a city hospital for a check-up on their own.

Fortunately, no additional victims were found during the search of the house. The fire was extinguished using two teams in heavy breathing protection, and another team searched the house for more victims.

The criminal police have begun investigating the cause of the fire, and as of now, the extent of property damage remains unknown. The Fire Department Hannover continues to be the primary point of contact for inquiries, with the Press Spokesperson, Raphael Schrank, available at 0511 912-1405 or [email protected].

The information was transmitted via news aktuell from the Fire Department Hannover, and the official website can be found at https://www.feuerwehr-hannover.de. The fire was completely extinguished 30 minutes after it was brought under control, and the busy Vahrenwalder Straße has since reopened.

The identity of the person who reported the fire in Hannover-Vahrenwald remains unknown. The Fire Department Hannover will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
