Fire Incident in Apartment Complex – No Reported Casualties

On May 22, 2025, a residential fire broke out in the Burgmühle area of Mönchengladbach, Germany. The fire department was alerted at 18:22 and swiftly responded.

Fire and Rescue Stations III (Rheydt) and II (Holt) were among the first to arrive at the scene. A tanker, an air supply container, the hygiene equipment vehicle from the Technical and Logistics Center (Holt), and the Odenkirchen unit of the volunteer fire department were also present.

Upon arrival, dense smoke was pouring out of an apartment on the 7th floor, and several window panes were shattered. The fire department initiated a rescue operation and fought the fire with several breathing apparatus teams.

Due to the strong smoke, the fire department's hygiene concept was implemented, and the deployed personnel were decontaminated on-site. Fortunately, no one was found inside the affected apartment during the search.

The fire was quickly located, brought under control, and extinguished. Upon completion of the extinguishing and ventilation measures, it was confirmed that the fire was contained to the affected apartment.

The police have begun investigating the cause of the fire. However, the cause and who triggered the residential fire have not been publicly disclosed at this time.

A medical emergency vehicle, three ambulance vehicles, and the command vehicle of the professional fire department were also on-site, ensuring the safety of all involved.
