Fire-induced property destruction

In the early hours of July 6, 2025, a fire broke out on Nienhof Street in Buer. The incident, which occurred at approximately 3:20 AM, involved several trash cans located in a driveway of a multi-family home.

The Gelsenkirchen Fire Department and police were swiftly dispatched to the scene and managed to extinguish the burning containers. However, the intense heat caused damage to the adjacent building facade, reaching down to the foundation. Smoke residue was visible up to the second floor of the adjacent building and on a nearby garage.

At present, the cause of the fire is officially suspected to be arson by the Criminal Police. The Criminal Police are actively investigating the incident and are seeking witnesses who observed anything suspicious or have information about the incident. Tips can be submitted to the responsible Criminal Commissioner at 0209 365 7112 or the Criminal Watch at 0209 365 8240.

Regrettably, there is no available information identifying the suspect behind the fire. Additionally, no further information about the extent of the damage or the status of the residents of the multi-family home has been released.

The damage to the adjacent building facade is significant, reaching down to the foundation. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers of carelessly discarded waste and the importance of fire safety.

As the investigation continues, the community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The safety and well-being of the residents of Buer remain the top priority.
