Fire in Lage Multi-Family Residence: No Injuries, Cause Under Investigation

In an unexpected event that took place overnight from Saturday to Sunday, a fire broke out in a well-known residential complex in the center of Lage. The fire, which started on the terrace area of a ground-floor apartment, was most likely caused by two children playing with a lighter in an unsupervised moment.

At 3 AM on 07.09.2025, an 18-year-old resident alerted the authorities and the fire department about the fire in the multi-family residence where he lives with his family. Upon arrival, the Lage fire department found that the upper floors and attic of the building were engulfed in flames.

Due to a partial collapse of the staircase, firefighters could only battle the blaze from outside the building. Despite the challenges, around 60 firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to a neighboring building. The residents of the multi-family residence managed to evacuate the building safely, and the residents of the neighboring building were temporarily evacuated but later allowed to return.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the major fire. However, the upper floors and attic of the old building were completely destroyed, and the multi-family residence is now at risk of collapse. Due to this risk, no one is allowed to enter the building at this time.

Investigators will search for the cause of the fire in the multi-family residence on Monday. Engineers will also decide tomorrow if the criminal police can enter the building to investigate the cause of the fire. The extent of the damage is still unknown.

The fire operation in the center of Lage lasted more than three hours. The city and its residents are grateful for the quick response and hard work of the fire department and police in managing the situation. The community is now focusing on supporting those affected by the fire and helping them rebuild their lives.
