Fire ravages several vehicles in a garage located in Dortmund-Hostedde
In the evening of August 25, 2025, the Dortmund Fire Department was called to a fire on Tettenbachstraße. The initial alarm was raised at 22:52, and the first responders arrived on the scene to find a car in a garage ablaze, which quickly spread to neighbouring garages and an adjacent workshop building.
The fire department deployed multiple teams in breathing apparatus to combat the flames, using a foam blanket to extinguish the fire and prevent re-ignition. Despite the intensity of the blaze, no one was injured in the operation.
As the fire continued to spread, a second operation was initiated, with crews from Fire Stations 3 (Neuasseln), 6 (Scharnhorst), and 2 (Eving), the volunteer fire brigade's Loeschzug 26 (Lanstrop), and the rescue service all pitching in to contain the fire. A firewall was established to prevent the spread to residential buildings, and a turntable ladder was used to open parts of the roof to target any remaining hotspots.
The incident commander reported "fire out" at 00:30, but re-ignition occurred in one of the involved vehicles. Extensive follow-up checks continued into the early morning hours, with thermal imaging cameras used to thoroughly check the scene.
The last crews left the scene at 01:59, and the fire was quickly brought under control in the second operation. The Dortmund Fire Department cannot make any statements about the cause of the fire, as it is the subject of police investigations.
