Fischer assumes presidency role at the BVL (Bundesverband der Deutschen Gas- und Wasserwirtschaft)

In a significant shift for the logistics industry in Germany, Silke Fischer has taken over as Chairman of the management board of the Federal Association of Logistics (BVL) in Bremen, effective July 1, 2024. Fischer, an engineer economist, joins the BVL after a successful career in the private sector, specifically at Geodis in Hamburg.

Prior to her current role, Fischer worked as Director of Sales in the Contract Logistics department at Geodis. Her extensive experience in the logistics industry will undoubtedly prove valuable as she leads the BVL, a professional association for the logistics industry in Germany, based in Bremen.

Fischer's appointment marks a change in leadership for the association, following the departure of Mike J. Holtkamp in February of this year and Martin Schwemmer in October 2023. Christoph Meyer, the Managing Director of the BVL, will lead the BVL business office alongside Fischer.

Fischer, aged 55, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role. Her background in both engineering and economics, combined with her experience in the private sector, make her an ideal candidate to lead the BVL into the future.

The BVL management board is now complete, and the association is poised to continue its vital work in representing and advocating for the logistics industry in Germany. With Fischer at the helm, the BVL is well-positioned to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
