Flame engulfs art and culture hub
In an unexpected turn of events, a fire broke out at the Freiburg Police Headquarters and a nearby cultural centre on Doretmatt Street on Saturday, 02.11.2024, at around 21:05. The incident, initially reported by the Freiburg Police Headquarters, was preliminarily determined to have been caused by the improper use of a gas stove.
Fortunately, the fire department managed to contain the blaze and prevent significant damage to both buildings. However, the incident did result in an estimated damage cost of at least 50,000 euros to the Police Headquarters. One person was injured in the incident, but their injuries were minor.
