In a thrilling Handball-Bundesliga match played in Minden, SG Flensburg-Handewitt secured their first victory of the season, defeating newcomers GWD Minden with a convincing scoreline of 40:27.

The game started off in favour of Flensburg, with Lasse Möller scoring three goals in the opening minutes to put them ahead 3:1. Flensburg maintained a stable defense and found their tempo, leading 11:6 by the 15th minute.

Marko Grgic, the top scorer for Flensburg with seven goals, extended their lead to 17:10 by the 25th minute, thanks to a fast break goal that increased their lead to their biggest so far at 27:17 in the 36th minute.

Coach Ales Pajovic utilised the second half to give some of his players a rest, with Patrick Volz replacing Emil Jakobsen and Aksel Horgen coming in for Domen Novak on the wings. Despite the changes, Flensburg continued to dominate the game with strong defense and fast-paced play.

Karolis Antanavicius of Minden was the top scorer for the losing team with seven goals, but it was not enough to prevent their first defeat in the current Handball-Bundesliga season. Kevin Möller was replaced by Benjamin Buric in goal in the second half, and the latter made key saves to secure the victory for Flensburg.

The victory marks a significant milestone for SG Flensburg-Handewitt, who had not previously won a game in the current Handball-Bundesliga season. Coach Aaron Ziercke and his GWD Minden team will be looking to bounce back from this defeat in their next match.
