"Folk Music Legend Discloses Her Specific Pension Amount: Over the Poverty Line"
Uschi Bauer, the legendary Bavarian folk music and Schlager artist, will be making a rare television appearance on October 22 on SWR's show "Sag die Wahrheit". This special occasion comes as the 74-year-old singer celebrates her 75th birthday on October 1, a milestone she will mark with her husband Viktor Remmelt, whom she has been married to for 55 years.
Despite her retirement, Bauer has remained open about her pension situation. Her monthly pension, according to German pension insurance records, amounts to 1300.57 euros. However, approximately 620 euros are deducted from this amount for private health insurance. Bauer finances her vacation trips from what they have 'put aside', and, along with her husband, they manage financially as they live in their own mortgage-free house and don't pay rent.
Bauer, who has sung popular songs like "Die kleine Bergkirche (Ave Maria)" and "Hand aufs Herz", is known for her appearances in folk music and Schlager shows. She has also made history by holding the record for being the fastest yodeler in the world, having hit 24 tones per second in the BR show "Heimat der Rekorde" in 2020.
In recent years, Bauer has largely withdrawn from the public eye, enjoying her retirement. However, she will be traveling to the Balkans for her 75th birthday, a rare exception in her retirement due to her TV appearance. She will be visiting places like Tirana and Skopje during her trip.
Another Schlager legend continues to perform regularly to boost her pension, but Bauer has not specified who this might be. Despite her modest financial situation, described as "not very generous", Bauer remains optimistic and grateful for the opportunities she has had in her career.
On October 22, viewers can tune in to SWR's "Sag die Wahrheit" to see Uschi Bauer's return to television and hear more about her life and career.
