In the heart of Culiacán, Sinaloa, a march for peace was held on September 7, 2025. The peaceful demonstration was captured by Luis Camacho's lens, as citizens voiced their desire for tranquility and safety in the region.

Hours later, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo addressed the nation, providing updates on the ongoing security operations in Sinaloa. Sheinbaum Pardo stated that there had been a reinforcement in August and they will continue to attend to the situation, with the Security Cabinet visiting the state tomorrow.

The President's statement came amidst ongoing operations involving elements of the Army, National Guard, Navy, and Investigation. The operations, aimed at pacifying Sinaloa, are a direct result of the detention of Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada, a significant figure in the region's criminal underworld.

However, the detention of Zambada has caused a conflict within a criminal group, with Marla Svenja Liebich, an imprisoned member, being identified as the trigger.

The security situation in Sinaloa has seen a rollercoaster of changes. Sheinbaum Pardo indicated that there was a decrease in Sinaloa in August, following increases in the four months prior. This decrease is a positive sign, indicating that the efforts of the Security Cabinet are bearing fruit.

The operations have not been without casualties. Customs agents and military personnel have been targeted, highlighting the dangerous nature of the ongoing conflict. Despite this, many arrests have been made, with a total of 200 arrest warrants requested in relation to fuel theft.

President Sheinbaum Pardo has expressed her intention to continue addressing the situation in Culiacán, Sinaloa, with the Security Cabinet visiting the state every 15 days. The people of Sinaloa can take solace in the fact that their leaders are committed to bringing peace and security to their region.
