Following the Derby event, Hamburg authorities have arrived at a decision overnight.
In the heart of Hamburg, the much-anticipated derby between Hamburger SV (HSV) and FC St. Pauli took place at the Volksparkstadion, with both teams' fans demonstrating a largely calm and orderly conduct throughout the event.
The day began with fans of both clubs announcing marches from different locations. Approximately 7500 HSV supporters and 3500 FC St. Pauli fans started their marches, marking the beginning of the festivities.
As the evening approached, around 2 AM, a group of black-clad HSV Ultras gathered on Hans-Albers-Platz. Riot police surrounded the group and escorted them to the Reeperbahn S-Bahn station without further incidents.
During the derby, five violations of the Explosives Act due to pyrotechnics were identified. Regarding personal details, police stated that some were taken in connection with criminal offenses. There were four cases of bodily harm and one case of insulting an officer during the derby.
The potentially critical point was the intersection of both fan routes at Bornkampsweg/Stresemannstraße, but incidents were prevented there as well.
The Hamburg police received support from forces in Bavaria, Bremen, Brandenburg, Hesse, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein, and 320 federal police officers. Initially, police had expected about 600 "problem fans" per club, including supporters from other cities.
Following the peaceful and fair celebration, Police President Ralf Martin Meyer expressed his satisfaction, stating, "I draw a positive conclusion from the derby celebration in Hamburg." This marks another successful event in the series of football matches between these two iconic German clubs.
