Following the THC ban's approval in the Texas Senate, has the corresponding bill been halted in the House?

In a recent development, the Texas Senate has passed a bill banning THC products for individuals under the age of 21. The bill, SB 6, has been referred to the House Public Health Committee but, as of now, has not had a hearing. This marks the third time the Senate has passed such a ban during the second special session.

The bill, SB 6, is part of a broader push to regulate THC products in Texas. Another bill, HB 6, which aims to regulate hemp products, was filed by the Chairman of the House Public Health Committee, Gary Van Deaver. However, no action has been taken on HB 6 so far.

Republican Representative Charlie Geren of Fort Worth has also filed HB 36, a bill that mirrors the Senate's SB 6, banning THC products for those younger than 21. HB 36 has been referred to the same committee but has not yet had a hearing.

Governor Greg Abbott has expressed his support for these measures, stating that he wants to ban THC products for those younger than 21 and regulate them for adults. Interestingly, Governor Abbott had previously vetoed the same bill after the regular legislative session.

Discussions about the potential success of these bills are ongoing. Representative Van Deaver's Chief of Staff confirmed that discussions are underway, but specific representatives who have held talks with Governor Abbott to find a binding solution on the ban and regulation of THC products for adults during the second special session are not yet identified in the available search results.

As the discussions continue, Texans await the next steps in the regulation of THC products within their state. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
