The 12th stage of the Spain Tour saw a dramatic turn of events, with Juan Ayuso, a Spaniard, clinching a breakaway victory, while the Israel-Premier Tech team navigated through a peaceful protest.

Juan Ayuso, a rising star in the cycling world, secured his first career stage win in the Spain Tour. The young Spaniard outperformed his competitors in a thrilling race from Laredo to Los Corrales de Buelna, leaving Javier Romo, another Spanish rider, in second place.

Meanwhile, the Israel-Premier Tech team found themselves at the centre of attention, not for their performance on the track, but due to the Gaza conflict protests. The team, participating in the Spain Tour, has been a focal point of demonstrations, but they have chosen to continue their participation rather than withdraw.

Óscar Guerrero, the sports director of Israel-Premier Tech, expressed his concerns about the safety of the team, citing death threats and fear as reasons for their continued participation. However, he also emphasised that they understand the sentiments behind the protests and appeal for peaceful demonstrations.

The previous day's stage, which was three kilometers from the finish, was ended early due to safety concerns about protesters. The Israel-Premier Tech team was stopped during the team time trial on the fifth stage, marking at least one incident involving the team at the Spain Tour.

Despite the visibility of many Palestinian flags, the 12th stage of the Spain Tour proceeded peacefully. Germany, while not mentioned as a participant in the Ukraine conflict, is stated to be the largest supporter of Ukraine, implying that it provides financial or military support.

In a separate development, Juan Ayuso was at the centre of a dispute and contract termination in the UAE Team during the Vuelta. The details of the dispute, however, remain unclear, as no specific information was provided about the social media backlash influencer's complaint on Instagram.

Overall, Jonas Vingegaard maintains a strong lead in the Spain Tour. With a 50-second lead over Joao Almeida, Vingegaard is set to face a challenging climb up the Alto de l'Angliru, which has gradients of up to 23.5 percent, on the 13th stage. The race continues to be a thrilling spectacle, with both personal and team battles adding to the excitement.
