Calgary Flames Sign Forward Connor Zary to Three-Year Contract

The Calgary Flames have made a significant move in their quest to bolster their offensive talent, as they have signed forward Connor Zary to a three-year contract. Sportsnet writer Eric Francis confirmed the news on social media.

Zary, who has played 117 NHL games as of the start of the 2025-26 season, is expected to play on the first line's right wing alongside Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau. The contract's value, with an average annual value of $3.775 million, may seem high based on current output, but it could prove to be a steal if Zary's offensive output continues to increase.

The 2025-26 season will mark a return for Zary, who missed the remainder of the 2024-25 season due to a gruesome collision in March. Zary missed significant time in the second half of the 2024-25 season due to two knee injuries but is expected to be healthy for the upcoming season. Initially, it was believed that Zary had a broken leg, but fortunately, his injury wasn't as bad as it looked, and he will be ready for training camp.

Zary's season was cut short in March after another knee injury, following a knee injury he suffered in January, which sidelined him for a month. Despite the setbacks, the team is looking to Zary to be an offensive leader in the 2025-26 season.

Calgary is low on scoring talent up front, and Zary is considered a crucial piece for the future. The team is hoping that Zary's 27 points in 54 games during the 2024-25 season is a sign of things to come. If Zary's offensive output continues to increase and the salary cap rises, he could be in line for a massive pay raise in three years.

Zary, known for his hard work and dedication, is often compared to the legendary "Mr. Hockey," Gordie Howe. With this new contract, the Flames have shown their faith in Zary's potential, and fans are excited to see what the future holds for the young forward.
