Freshly opened: Mainz Club makes its debut

In the heart of Mainz's Bleichenviertel, a new club has made its debut – "Beben". The establishment, which replaces the closed "Alexander the Great", has officially opened its doors after a four-month renovation and rebuild.

The "Alexander the Great" closed its doors nearly 25 years after its inception, as previously reported. The closure was due to a lack of available space and funds, making a move for the club impractical. The building that housed the club was intended for demolition as part of a new construction project.

However, the spirit of the "Alexander the Great" (ATG) lives on in the space of the new "Beben". Some of the furniture and the stage at the club are made from the wood of the former ATG, adding a nostalgic touch to the new venue.

Owner Michael Vogt stated that renovations and investments for the ATG were no longer feasible due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lack of guests. This paved the way for the birth of "Beben".

"Beben" places special emphasis on variety in its programming. Regular concerts at the club will begin in October, featuring music across various genres, including electronic music, indie, drum & bass, hip-hop, metal, and rock. The club aims to be a place that evolves, with no stagnation.

Programming at "Beben" will take place on at least three evenings a week – every Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and before holidays. The opening event of the club on September 5th will feature house-breakbeats.

The first monthly program for "Beben" is now available, with the link provided offering access to the entire September program. The Palatin cinema, which also closed for the same reason, is not far from "Beben", making it an ideal location for a night out in Mainz's Bleichenviertel.

The club "Beben" is intended to be a breath of fresh air in the local nightlife scene, promising a vibrant and varied experience for its patrons.
