Friends of Innstadt are seizing control of the municipal building
On a lively Shrove Thursday, the 27th of February, 2025, the Passau town hall witnessed a unique spectacle as the Innstadt Fasching Friends took over the rule of the historic building. The event, held in the Great Town Hall Hall, was a gathering of various carnival groups and enthusiasts, marking the start of the final Fasching push.
Mayor Jürgen Dupper welcomed the Fasching Friends Innstadt, led by Sabine Fillafer, to the town hall. In a symbolic handover, he handed over the symbolic town hall key to Thomas Eder, the president of the Carnival Association Innstadt Fasching Friends. In return, Mayor Dupper received the traditional Fasching Order.
The Royal Privileged Fire Society of 1379, the Carnival Association Pleinting with Gardens, and the band Baier Buam and Friends were among the attendees. Many other carnival enthusiasts were present, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.
The Fasching Guild Thyrnau was also present during the handover ceremony. The presence of these traditional carnival groups made the event a true celebration of Passau's rich carnival history.
The storming of the town hall, a traditional part of Passau's Fasching celebrations, was carried out in good spirits, with the various groups and individuals joining the Innstadt Fasching Friends in their takeover. The town hall event was a testament to the city's love for its carnival traditions, bringing together people of all ages to celebrate in unity.
