Funding for pharmaceuticals and healthcare in India decreased by 82% in August 2025, reaching a total of $47 million.
In the bustling world of healthcare, several significant developments have taken place recently.
Firstly, Canon Medical Systems India and the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute have joined forces, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for advanced cancer diagnostics. The agreement was inked by Dr. Prasad K., Director of RGCI, and Mr. Yasuhisa Tokuda, Managing Director of Canon Medical Systems India.
Meanwhile, the Madras Dyslexia Association has embarked on an independent initiative, developing a 'Count on Me' toolkit. Contrary to speculations, this toolkit is not related to advanced cancer diagnostics or infertility management. Instead, it is designed to offer support to children.
The 'Count on Me' toolkit development is also independent from any of the MoUs mentioned above.
Elsewhere, Aster DM Healthcare has made a strategic move by acquiring an additional 13% stake in Aster Ramesh Hospitals. However, it's important to note that this acquisition does not involve Canon Medical Systems India, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, or Jindal IVF.
Jindal IVF was the host of the 21st ART Update CME in Chandigarh. The focus of this event was on innovations in infertility management, and it was not related to the 'Count on Me' toolkit or the aforementioned acquisitions.
These developments underscore the dynamic nature of the healthcare sector, with various organisations and institutions collaborating and innovating to improve health outcomes for individuals across the country.
