Funding Plan for 2025

The German government, led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, is set to present the coordinated budget plan for 2025 in the Bundestag on September 23, 2025. Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil will deliver the budget proposal speech. The final vote on the 2025 budget is scheduled for the session week of September 16 to 19.

This budget vote is taking place due to the early Bundestag election and government formation. The ministries have been operating under a provisional budget since the beginning of the year, which significantly restricts their financial leeway.

The total new debt resulting from the budget is over 140 billion euros. The approved expenditure budget for the core budget is nearly 82 billion euros.

The budget includes loans for both the Bundeswehr and infrastructure, but the specific amounts are not specified. There are additional billions in loans from special funds for the Bundeswehr, and for infrastructure, although the exact amounts are not yet clear.

The finalized federal budget for the current year is approximately 502.5 billion euros. The vote on the final 2025 budget will take place from September 16 to 19 in the Bundestag.

It's important to note that the ministries have been operating under financial restrictions due to the election and government formation. The provisional budget has significantly restricted their financial leeway.

This budget comes at a time when the Bundeswehr is in need of additional funding, and infrastructure projects require significant investment. The exact amounts allocated to these areas will be determined in the final budget vote.

Stay tuned for more updates as the budget process unfolds in the coming weeks.
