Giorgio Armani, the legendary Italian fashion designer who redefined Italian fashion on the world stage, will be buried in a private family ceremony in Rivalta, south of Milan, on Monday.

The news of Armani's death was first announced by his company on Thursday. Over the weekend, thousands paid their respects by viewing his coffin next to the headquarters of his multi-billion-euro lifestyle company in Milan.

Armani's global empire, which extended beyond clothing into lifestyle, interiors, fragrances, and luxury accessories, revolutionised global fashion with his trademark sleek, understated designs. Over the decades, he dressed Hollywood stars, world leaders, and athletes. His style became synonymous with elegance and sophistication.

The Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, has announced a day of mourning in his city on Monday. Security will be deployed to ensure the privacy of the funeral, scheduled for mid-afternoon.

Armani's burial place will be where his mother is also interred. The local association for the castles in the region made this announcement. The burial was confirmed by local officials on Sunday.

The Armani company has announced that its shops in Italy will close on Monday afternoon as a sign of respect. Giorgio Armani, who founded his eponymous label in 1975, will be remembered for his significant contributions to the fashion industry.

In the private ceremony, about 20 close family and friends, including his sister, nieces, and longtime partner Leo Dell’Orco, will attend.
