The Royal Family has announced the passing of Katharine, the Duchess of Kent, at the age of 92. She died peacefully at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her family, on Thursday evening.

Katharine, who was a skilled pianist, organist, and singer, spent 13 years of her retirement teaching music at a primary school in Hull. Her dedication to education and the arts was evident throughout her life.

The state funeral for the Duchess of Kent will take place on 16 September. The King and Queen will both attend the solemn occasion. The day will begin with a mass at Westminster Cathedral at 2pm, followed by the Duchess's coffin being taken to Westminster Cathedral.

After the mass, the coffin will be taken for burial at Frogmore in Windsor. Flags will fly at half-mast at all royal homes on the day of the funeral as a mark of respect for the late Duchess.

The Duchess of Kent leaves behind her surviving children, George Windsor, Earl of St Andrews, Lady Helen Windsor, and Lord Nicholas Windsor. The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time.

Katharine, the Duchess of Kent, will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her passion for music, and her service to the community. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and in the lives she touched.
