Gambler Slayer's Life Incarcerated in 2014 Casino Murder Case

In Delano, California, a 41-year-old man named Carlos Augusto Reveles was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison on May 24, 2025, for the first-degree murder of David Medina outside the Aviator Casino in 2014. The shooting took place during a fight between two groups of people outside the casino.

Murder victim David Medina, age 46, succumbed to his injuries following the incident in the casino's parking lot. The verdict was handed down in Kern County Superior Court presided by Judge Colette M. Humphrey.

Reveles' co-defendant, Vincent Mike Gonzalez, has also been sentenced. Gonzalez, now pursuing a career in Christian rap music, was given a three-year prison term after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter. Gonzalez admitted to kicking Medina as he lay dying on the ground.

During his sentencing hearing, Gonzalez offered an apology to Medina’s family, acknowledging substance abuse as a contributing factor, while proclaiming he had turned his life around and "gave all that negativity to the Lord."

Medina's family expressed frustration with the sentences handed down, with one family member stating they would have preferred life without parole for Reveles and a more extensive sentence for Gonzalez, stating that no punishment could right this wrong.

Originally arrested in 2015, Reveles was released after the police investigation failed to develop enough evidence. He was re-arrested and charged in 2019, with the Kern County District Attorney's Office committing to investigating homicides and developing the evidence needed for prosecution, regardless of the passage of time.
