Swedish Gambling Authority Launches Campaign to Combat Problem Gambling Among Young Adults

The Swedish Gambling Authority, Spelinspektionen, has relaunched a campaign aimed at combating problem gambling among young people. Titled "With your future at stake," the initiative will be visible on social media and digital channels throughout the fall.

The primary targets of the new campaign are young adults between the ages of 18 and 25, a group particularly vulnerable to problem gambling, according to Camilla Rosenberg, Director General of Spelinspektionen. More than 31,000 young adults in Sweden are in debt, estimated to be around $201m.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the risks associated with gambling and prevent indebtedness or gambling-related problems. It encourages young adults to set both time and money limits when gambling and advises them to avoid gambling with borrowed money to prevent indebtedness.

The initiative is a collaboration between Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Enforcement Authority, and the Public Health Agency of Sweden. It also includes a gambling education component to highlight the connection between young adults who enjoy video games and problem gambling.

In addition to raising awareness, the campaign provides information on how to access help and support for those suffering from gambling-related problems. Rosenberg also mentioned that the campaign aims to reach young adults at the right time and provide them with tools to make informed decisions about their gambling.

The "With your future at stake" campaign, relaunched in 2025, is part of a broader effort to promote responsible gambling in Sweden. With the growing popularity of online gambling and the increasing number of young people who are falling into debt due to gambling, the campaign is more important than ever.

According to Rosenberg, "Young adults are a group particularly vulnerable to problem gambling, and we want to reach them with a message that gambling can have serious consequences for their future. Our goal is to provide them with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their gambling and to prevent indebtedness or gambling-related problems."

The campaign is expected to reach a wide audience, with the hope that it will have a positive impact on the lives of young adults in Sweden. By raising awareness and providing information on responsible gambling, the "With your future at stake" campaign aims to help young adults make informed decisions about their gambling and to protect their financial future.
