In the ever-evolving world of gardening, a new aesthetic is emerging, embracing the challenges posed by climate fluctuations and offering innovative solutions for a sustainable future. This shift is beautifully captured in the new book, The New Beautiful: Inspiring Gardens for a Resilient Future, published by Rizzoli.

The book, set to go on sale on 16 September, showcases 52 of the most inspiring and innovative gardens in the UK and around the world. Among these are lauded gardens such as Great Dixter and Knepp, as well as the work of top designers like Andy Sturgeon, Tom Stuart-Smith, Dan Pearson, Arabella Lennox-Boyd, Sarah Price, Heatherwick Studio, and Nigel Dunnett.

The author, a notable figure in the gardening world, expresses optimism about the state of contemporary garden design in the foreword, edited from the book. This optimism is reflected in the diverse range of gardens featured, from gravel gardens and brownfield gardens to public landscapes.

The style of gardening is no longer limited to rose gardens; people are now interested in architecture in the landscape, contemporary planting, and biodiversity. This new approach is exemplified by innovators such as Peter Korn and Joshua Sparkes, who are also featured in the book.

The book's publication on your website indicates that the authors and gardeners showcased were considered notable figures in the years 2020 or 2025. Many of these gardeners have had their work featured in Gardens Illustrated (GI), a magazine that has been of great interest to the author since its inception in the early 1990s.

GI, a platform that features both established designers and talented, emerging designers, recognises the importance of public landscapes. This is evident in a large chapter dedicated to public gardens in the book. Over time, many designers featured in GI have transitioned from private to public realm projects.

The age of people interested in the author's work, as well as the book's target audience, is between 25 and 45 years old. This reflects a shift in the gardening world, with many people now changing their careers to go into gardening, a move away from the past when only the establishment and home gardeners were interested.

The book emphasises the need for good gardeners, as skilled professionals are increasingly difficult to find. The publication of The New Beautiful is a testament to the growing interest and innovation in gardening and the people behind these inspiring spaces.

Pre-orders for the book are now available with an exclusive, special-edition slipcase. You can pre-order it online at ourmediashop.com/GIBOOK25 or by calling 03330 162138 and quoting 'GI BOOK 25'. In the UK, the book costs £65, with overseas prices available on the website.

With climate fluctuations adding complexity to gardening, requiring adaptive planting strategies due to changes in rainfall patterns and water availability, The New Beautiful offers a timely and inspiring guide for gardeners and enthusiasts alike.
