Last Sunday, the bustling Park Avenue in Worcester played host to the vibrant stArt on the Street Festival, showcasing music, dance, and art. Meanwhile, on campus, the Luth Concert Hall resonated with the melodious tunes of the College Choir and Chamber Singers as they hosted the 2024 Fall Concert.

Away from the spotlight, the chaplain's office at Holy Cross was fostering meaningful connections and personal growth through their retreats. The First-Year Ignite Retreat took place this past weekend, with 45 freshmen gathering at the Joyce Contemplative Center. The retreat aimed to provide a chance for first-year students to escape the stresses of university life, cultivate friendships, and unite as a community.

The Ignite Retreat, lasting just over 24 hours, was attended by 10 student leaders, ranging from sophomores to seniors. The retreat encouraged participants to leave their cell phones in their rooms and try not to check them all day, allowing for a more immersive and reflective experience. First-year chaplains Omondi Andrew and Salena Ibrahim also attended the retreat, providing guidance and support.

For those seeking a more silent and reflective retreat, the chaplain's office is hosting a five-day silent retreat over October break. This retreat offers an opportunity for reflection and connection with God in a tranquil setting. More information about Holy Cross retreats can be found on the Instagram page (@hc_chaplains) and the Holy Cross website's section on faith and service.

On a different note, the stArt on the Street Festival is not related to the Holy Cross Chaplain's office retreats. The festival, however, was a lively celebration of local arts and culture, attracting participants from all walks of life.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Fall Concert, hosted by the College Choir and Chamber Singers, was a resounding success. The concert was attended by students, faculty, and families, who enjoyed an evening of beautiful music. The chaplain's office retreats and the stArt on the Street Festival may differ in nature, but they both contribute to the rich tapestry of events that enliven the Holy Cross community.

Lastly, it's worth mentioning that participants at the Holy Cross campus also found time to enjoy activities such as arts and crafts, board games, walks in the woods, bird watching, journaling, and napping. These activities offer a chance for students to unwind, connect with one another, and make the most of their time at Holy Cross.
