Genesis taps Kronschnabl to head European expansion effort
Genesis Motor, a luxury vehicle brand owned by South Korean OEM Hyundai, is set to make a significant move in the European market. The company has appointed Peter Kronschnabl as the new Managing Director for its European operation.
Kronschnabl, with over 30 years of commercial and strategic leadership experience in the automotive industry, will lead Genesis Motor Europe from its European HQ in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. His extensive premium brand experience and leadership skills are seen as key for the next growth phase of Genesis Motor Europe.
In a strategic move, Genesis Motor Europe is preparing to launch in new European markets in 2026. The four new markets where Genesis Motor Europe will introduce its electrified vehicle lineup include France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands. Deliveries in these markets will start in early 2026.
The existing operations of Genesis Motor Europe include the UK, Germany, and Switzerland. The new markets expansion plans are seen as key opportunities for Genesis Motor Europe.
Kronschnabl's expertise in market development will be crucial as Genesis Motor Europe expands into these new markets. In his most recent role, he served as VP for Market Development and Special Sales for BMW Group's emerging markets.
As part of its European expansion, Genesis Motor Europe will launch its electrified range in the four new markets. The future Magma and hybrid products are seen as opportunities to drive Genesis into its next chapter in Europe.
Genesis Motor Europe will also launch its Genesis Magma Racing programme. The company has announced that it will launch its first high-performance model, the GV60 Magma, ahead of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship.
Mr. Kronschnabl expressed excitement about replicating the growing success already seen in Korea and the U.S. for Genesis Motor Europe. He succeeds Xavier Martinet, who was Genesis Motor Europe’s interim MD and also served as President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe.
The appointment of Peter Kronschnabl as Managing Director of Genesis Motor Europe was announced without specifying the date of his start. Nevertheless, automotive enthusiasts and industry experts are eagerly anticipating the impact of Kronschnabl's leadership on Genesis Motor Europe's growth and success in the European market.
