Global gathering: Invitation extended by Dormagen to counterparts from cooperative city Chipata

On September 3rd, the city of Dormagen, Germany, invites the public to an encounter event titled "Chipata up close". This event, which will take place at the Historic Town Hall Dormagen from 7 pm to 8:30 pm, is part of the city's partnership with Chipata, Zambia, established in October 2022.

Dormagen's coordinator for the city partnership, Lieselotte Heinz, will present current projects and offer insights into life in Chipata. The event aims to provide answers to questions about life in a Zambian city and the connection between people from Dormagen and southern Africa.

Mayor Erik Lierenfeld, who will also participate in the discussion, described the partnership with Chipata as a bridge between cultures and people. He expressed delight at the public's interest in the partnership, stating that it is a unique opportunity to learn about a different culture and build connections.

The event will feature a digital connection with George Mwanza, Mayor of Chipata, for a discussion about the origins and significance of the partnership. This will provide an opportunity to hear directly from Chipata's Mayor and gain a better understanding of the partnership's impact.

A partnership association is planned to strengthen cooperation in the long term and invite more people to participate. Registration for the event is desired by email to Lieselotte Heinz. The event will be held in English, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Mayor Erik Lierenfeld emphasised the importance of the partnership, stating that it is a chance to learn from each other, share experiences, and work together on collaborative projects. He encouraged everyone to attend the event and take part in the exciting journey of building a cultural and human bridge with Chipata.

So, if you're curious about life in Chipata, interested in learning more about the city partnership, or simply want to be a part of something unique, mark your calendars for September 3rd and join the "Chipata up close" event at the Historic Town Hall Dormagen.
