Global Gathering of Orthopedic Footwear Technology: An Exposition of Innovations in Shoes and Footwear
The much-anticipated OTWorld 2026 is set to take place in Leipzig from May 19 to 22, 2026. Organised by Confairmed GmbH and Leipziger Messe GmbH, this event promises to be the central meeting point for orthopaedic shoe technology, attracting a global specialist audience.
The Federal Guild Association for Orthopaedic Technology (BIV-OT), which represents more than 4,500 medical supply stores and orthopedic technical workshops in Germany, is the professional carrier of OTWorld. BIV-OT, under the leadership of Tino Sprekelmeyer, who is also the chairman of ISPO Germany e.V., is responsible for more than 25 million assistive device supplies in Germany per year and employs over 48,000 people.
The World Congress at OTWorld 2026 will feature a variety of practical workshops aimed at deepening specialist knowledge. These include events such as "The Diabetic Foot in Transition", "Digital Care Processes in Technical Orthopaedics", "You Are Unique", and "Orthotic Supply in Transition". The Symposium "Stage-appropriate Supply of Diabetic Foot Syndrome" will present the latest scientific findings and best practice models.
Diabetic Foot Syndrome (DFS) will be a major focus at OTWorld 2026, with a particular emphasis on interdisciplinary care and securing quality of life. The Meeting Point Foot & Shoe in the exhibition area OTWorld.shoe-technology will focus on DFS, providing practical impulses, valuable knowledge, and direct exchange for experts from various fields. Dr. Annette Kerkhoff, a member of the workshop committee of the OTWorld World Congress and project leader of the Competence Centre for Orthopaedic Shoe Technology (KomZet O.S.T.), which co-organises the trade fair and world congress, will play a key role in these discussions.
