Global satellite broadband service Starlink surpasses 7 million users globally and extends its reach to 150 nations worldwide.
Starlink Hits 7 Million Customers: A Milestone for SpaceX's Satellite Internet Service
In a significant leap forward for SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service, the company has announced that it has surpassed 7 million customers worldwide. This milestone, reached in a little over two months, marks another surge in adoption for the space-age broadband provider.
The growth for Starlink's satellite internet service has been accelerating over the past year, with significant increases in subscribers in a short period. In fact, Starlink is currently the fastest-growing broadband provider globally, adding an average of 12,200 new customers per day since hitting 6 million.
This rapid expansion is particularly noteworthy in areas underserved by traditional broadband infrastructure, where Starlink's service has proven to be a game-changer. The company now connects more than 7 million people with reliable high-speed internet across approximately 150 countries, territories, and other markets.
SpaceX has been actively working to make its service more accessible and affordable. Recently, the company introduced deep discounts in the U.S. and Canada for Starlink's standard dish and Residential subscription plans. The first-year Residential subscription plans have also been made cheaper as part of these promotions.
In addition, SpaceX has requested the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to approve the use of "E-band" spectrum for its first-generation satellite fleet. If approved, this would increase bandwidth and allow the service to serve more customers, further fuelling its growth.
Starlink crossed the 4 million mark back in September 2024, and the milestone of 7 million customers is a testament to the company's continued success. SpaceX's post on X celebrates this achievement, expressing gratitude to its customers for their support and trust.
With a record of more than 7 million global customers for a satellite internet offering, SpaceX with its Starlink service is leading the way in providing reliable, high-speed internet to people worldwide. The company's customer base continues to grow, and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
