Global Structures Showcased Abroad
The 9th EuChemS Chemistry Congress, a major event in the global chemistry community, took place in Dublin from 7 to 11 July. During the Congress, a significant focus was placed on the implementation of the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data principles in chemistry.
A symposium entitled "FAIR Data for Chemistry: National Infrastructures, Standards, Tools, and Resources" was co-chaired by our consortium and the UK's Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure (PSDI) at the Congress. Presentations and discussions at the symposium highlighted the progress being made in establishing national infrastructures, developing standards, and creating tools and resources for better data management.
Our consortium, along with PSDI, organised the symposium, collaborating to make significant strides towards a more data-driven future for chemistry. The critical issue of Research Data Management (RDM) was discussed at the Congress, with our consortium engaging in meaningful conversations with many professionals dedicated to RDM.
John Jolliffe, a representative from our consortium, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate and emphasised the importance of continued conversations and collaborations. We are grateful for the opportunity to engage with everyone who visited us at the GDCh booth and attended our symposium.
The shared vision and collaborative efforts of our organisations are critical to advancing the adoption of FAIR data practices in the chemical sciences. Together, we are making significant progress towards a more data-driven future for chemistry. Discussions at the symposium emphasised the importance of collaboration, standardization, and innovation in achieving our goals.
The 9th EuChemS Chemistry Congress provided an excellent opportunity for our consortium to engage with a diverse group of chemists. We look forward to continuing these conversations and collaborations.
