"Google Cloud's AI integration in the myVW app, featuring a virtual assistant, to be implemented in the 2025 Atlas model and vehicles produced from 2020 onwards"

Volkswagen Group of America has partnered with Google Cloud to bring a new level of customer service with the introduction of the myVW Virtual Assistant. This innovative technology is set to revolutionize the driving experience for Volkswagen vehicle owners starting in 2025.

The myVW Virtual Assistant, available for most MY20 and newer Volkswagen vehicles, leverages Google Cloud's AI technologies, particularly Google's Gemini and Vertex AI. This collaboration enables Volkswagen to bring valuable technology into their vehicles, connecting with customers in a more meaningful way.

One of the key features of the myVW Virtual Assistant is its multi-modal capabilities. Users can point their smartphone cameras at their dashboards to see helpful information and context displayed on indicator lights. This feature is made possible by Google Cloud's Gemini models.

Throughout the app development process, Google Cloud Consulting provided expertise to ensure the app meets Volkswagen's legal requirements and high standards. The myVW Virtual Assistant is currently available for My24 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport vehicle owners. By 2025, it will be extended to all model year 2024 Volkswagen Atlas and Atlas Cross Sports owners.

Rachael Zaluzec, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience & Brand Marketing for Volkswagen Group of America, stated that the myVW app and Virtual Assistant advance Volkswagen's promise of unparalleled customer service. Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, added that the myVW Virtual Assistant sets a new standard for driver experiences.

The myVW app, available on both the Apple Store and Google Play Store, aims to bring a collection of different points of information into one place, providing support valued by Volkswagen owners. It allows users to explore their vehicle's owner's manual, ask questions like "How do I change a flat tire?" or "What does this digital cockpit indicator light mean?", and receive vehicle-specific information and answers through the Virtual Assistant.

Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWGoA) has deployed generative AI within the myVW mobile app through a partnership with Google Cloud. The myVW Virtual Assistant utilizes the multi-modal capabilities of Google Cloud's Gemini models and combines Volkswagen's connected car data with Google Cloud's Vertex AI platform for low-latency, accurate information.

Abdallah Shanti, Chief Information Officer for Volkswagen Group of America, stated that the goal is to enhance the ownership experience and create love for Volkswagen vehicles. The myVW Virtual Assistant is not just a tool; it's a utility that helps Volkswagen owners better understand their vehicles and get answers faster and easier.

In summary, the myVW Virtual Assistant is a significant step forward in Volkswagen's commitment to exceptional customer service. By leveraging Google Cloud's advanced AI and machine learning capabilities, Volkswagen is making vehicle ownership easier and more enjoyable for its customers.
