The Bakers' Session of Düsseldorf's Artisan Bakers, a legendary event, was once again the talk of the town on Saturday, 8th February, as the M+R Dance Company took centre stage with their show-stopping dance routine "Time."
Held at the Rheingold Hall of the Rheinterrassen, the hall was filled with 300 guests who were treated to a night of entertainment that included a variety of performances. The evening started with the energetic KakaJu children, who warmed up the crowd with their lively performance.
Following their act, Jeck United, the Rhythm Sports Group, the Wimmer Band, and the KG Rainbow raised the temperature in the hall with their performances, setting the stage for the main event.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the M+R Dance Company's performance of "Time," which closed the Bäcker-Karneval. The dance routine, presented by the group, was met with applause and cheers, and the dancers were only allowed to leave the stage after an encore.
The song lyrics of "Time" took aim at Cologne and supermarket chains, adding a humorous touch to the performance. The highlight of the evening, however, was the self-penned songs humorously recounting the bakers' work and competition. The "Princes' Song," a humorous take on Sarah Connor's "Vincent," was particularly popular.
The M+R Dance Company wasn't the only group to take to the stage with a song. The guild bakers also sang a song titled "In our neighborhood," while a song was written for the princes at the event, titled "With rolls like these."
The bakers' craft included collaboration on a carnival session featuring homemade ingredients, and the bread at the event was praised for its perfect mix of hearty to sweet.
