Greetings in the urban center of Chemnitz

Chemnitz, Germany - On Monday, 1st September, Mayor Ralph Burghart will welcome 50 new apprentices and students in the city council chamber of the town hall, Markt 1, at 10 am. This event marks the beginning of the training or dual studies for these individuals, who will be joining the city's workforce across various fields.

A total of 650 applications were received for the advertised training positions in the city of Chemnitz for 2026. The range of professions for which training can be started in 2026 may vary to meet the city's demand for young talent and increase apprentices' chances of permanent employment.

Eleven students will be pursuing a Bachelor of Laws in the higher general administrative service, while two students will be studying social pedagogy and will be aiming for a Bachelor of Arts. One student will be studying geomatics, and another will be in civil engineering.

The offered apprenticeships for 2026 include Mechatronics Technician, Nursing Specialist, Cutting Machine Operator (Zerspanungsmechaniker), Puppet Theater Performer, Nursing Assistant, and Gardeners in the field of garden and landscape construction, among others. These cover various fields from industrial technology to health care and arts.

In addition, two specialists for bath operations, four emergency medical technicians, one animal keeper, and two road builders will also be part of the new group.

Twenty-four administrative specialists will be among the new apprentices and students. Information about training opportunities for 2026 can be found at karriere.chemnitz.de/ausbildung-studium.

In September 2025, an additional approximately 100 trainees were learning in the city of Chemnitz, bringing the total to around 160. The specific professions of the 50 apprentices and students starting their training in September 2021 were not specified.

Representatives of the media are invited to the event. No new fact about the number of applications received for the training positions in 2026 was mentioned. Training starting in 2026 is open for those interested in apprenticeships or dual studies.
