New Building at Magdalenenheim: A Modern, Accessible Expansion

In the heart of the city, a new chapter is unfolding at the Magdalenenheim. The three-story extension, funded by the Free State of Bavaria and the KfW funding bank, is under construction, aiming to provide additional care and nursing facilities in an aging society.

Designed by architect Bernhard Fischer, the new building boasts a contemporary design, featuring warm wood tones and a barrier-free layout. Each floor houses a common room, providing residents with comfortable communal spaces. The basement accommodates technical rooms and the laundry, while the upper floors offer 21 newly created rooms, nine of which are wheelchair-accessible.

The new building is not just about additional space; it's about enhancing the quality of life for its residents. All rooms have access to either a terrace or loggia, offering stunning views of the impressive location that many would envy. A Kneipp room with an outdoor area on the flat roof of the new building will compensate for the loss of the Kneipp garden, ensuring residents can still enjoy the therapeutic benefits of water and nature.

The city's Mayor, Alexander Putz, has praised the employees of the Holy Spirit Hospital and the Magdalenenheim for their dedication and hard work. He attended the topping-out ceremony of the new building, along with other visitors, marking a significant milestone in the construction process.

The Holy Spirit Hospital and the Magdalenenheim, both well-run homes under the umbrella of the Holy Spirit Hospital Foundation, are undergoing extensive renovations. The renovation includes the creation of a new station bathroom and the attachment of the three-story extension to the Magdalenenheim to accommodate those affected by the renovation.

The cost of the construction is estimated at 9.6 million euros. While the architect who designed the extension of the Heilig-Geist Hospital is not explicitly named, it is worth noting that architect Erwin Schleich is associated with the reconstruction projects of the Heilig-Geist-Spitalkirche (Holy Spirit Hospital Church).

The Magdalenenheim has already been comprehensively renovated, and this new extension is a testament to the city's commitment to providing high-quality care and nursing facilities for its residents. The city operates these two homes, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of the community in the years to come.

As construction continues at the Holy Spirit Hospital, the city looks forward to the completion of this modern, accessible expansion at the Magdalenenheim.
