Guide for Acquiring One of Octopus Energy's 2,000 Offered Electric Blankets for Free
In an effort to support customers during the cold winter months, Octopus Energy has been distributing free electric blankets since January 2022. So far, over 60,000 blankets have been given out, and an additional 20,000 are being offered this year.
This initiative is made possible through the £30m Octo Assist Fund, which also finances other home improvement grants. Examples of these grants include the ECO4 scheme for insulation installations and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme for funding heat pump installations.
Octopus Energy encourages those who can afford to buy their own electric blankets to do so, allowing the free scheme to help those most in need, such as the medically vulnerable, elderly, and those living alone. To apply for a free electric blanket, customers should contact Octopus Energy to answer a few questions and demonstrate their financial situation.
The electric blankets, supplied by Dreamland, are an efficient way to heat individuals rather than an entire home, helping customers save on heating costs due to energy price rises. One of the options available through Octopus Energy is the Silentnight electric blanket, which features three heat settings, overheat protection, a two-meter power cord, and a two-year guarantee. It costs just 1p per night to run.
Unfortunately, energy prices are set to rise from October, making it difficult for many households to stay warm. To add to this, Winter Fuel Payments are being reduced for many pensioners. However, the free electric blanket scheme, along with various home improvement government grants such as insulation grants and heat pump grants, aims to help keep homes warm and reduce energy consumption.
If customers are not eligible for the free electric blanket scheme, affordable options can be found online. For example, the Russell Hobbs double electric blanket, available for £34.99 on Amazon, offers a cost-effective solution.
Octopus Energy's priority is to help those who need it most, giving priority to those who are medically vulnerable, elderly, or living alone. This winter, the company is distributing 20,000 free electric blankets to help vulnerable customers stay warm and save on energy costs.
