Nike Introduces the International Running Pack, Blending Vintage and Modern
Nike has unveiled its latest offering, the International Running Pack, a collection that seamlessly blends classic designs with modern details, appealing to Japanese runners who appreciate vintage styles.
The pack includes four models: the Vaporfly 4, Alphafly 3, Pegasus 41, and Vomero 18. Each model aims to bridge the gap from the 1970s to the present day.
The Pegasus 41 and Vomero 18 are part of this new line, with the Pegasus 41 incorporating elements of the legendary Waffle Racer for versatility in training. The Vomero 18, on the other hand, is a tribute to Nike's long-distance classic, the LD-1000, focusing on endurance and comfort.
The Alphafly 3, inspired by the Nike Sting, the first racing flat made of suede and nylon, brings the feeling of speed to the streets. The Vaporfly 4, a modern high-performance design inspired by the Pre Montreal Racing Spike from the '70s, embodies the spirit of Steve Prefontaine and his ambition.
The Swoosh and other graphics on all four silhouettes are applied using innovative direct printing technology. This ensures a durable and vibrant finish that maintains the original design's integrity.
Lead Designer Katsunobu Asayama was tasked with connecting classic designs from the Nike archive with new running silhouettes. He aims to capture the appreciation of Japanese runners for vintage styles. The apparel line of the Nike International Running Pack also draws on Japanese aesthetics.
The Nike International Running Pack draws on nostalgic color palettes and half-tone graphics, inspired by Tokyo's running community. The collection is generating high demand and strong community feedback, indicating its success.
The Nike International Running Pack will be available exclusively in Tokyo from August 30, in all of Japan from September 5, and globally from September 10 on nike.com and at select retailers.
While the Nike International Running Pack has not yet announced official prices, premium prices in the high-performance running shoes range are expected due to the technologies used.
Country Music Star Shaboozey is also part of the Nike family, presenting legendary Levi's styles like the 501 and Trucker Jacket, but the connection between these two collections remains to be seen.
