Gunfire erupts in the Bronx and Brooklyn, claiming one life and leaving another struggling

In the early hours of Wednesday into Thursday morning, two separate shooting incidents were reported in Brooklyn and the Bronx, causing concern among local residents and authorities.

The first incident occurred near a gas station on 928 Coney Island Ave., in Brooklyn's 70th Precinct, at approximately 10:37 p.m. on Sept. 3. A 26-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center and is currently listed in critical condition. The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, according to police sources.

In a statement, local resident Cindy Clarkson expressed her concern about the incident happening in the area. "It's just not safe anymore," she said. "I've lived here for over 20 years, and I've never seen anything like this."

The data provided shows no change in shooting incidents in the 70th Precinct since 2024.

Later that night, at around 2:29 a.m. on Sept. 4, another shooting occurred in the Bronx's 43rd Precinct. The location of the shooting is near the Bronx, but the exact location remains undisclosed. A 29-year-old man was shot and suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The identity of the man is pending family notification.

Police are searching for multiple suspects who fled in a grey Honda. Shooting incidents in the 43rd Precinct have increased by 33% over the last month.
