H&M has announced that Karen O'Rourke will take over as the new Managing Director for its UK & Ireland region. The news comes as the fashion retailer prepares to return to London Fashion Week with a co-ed catwalk show on September 18.

O'Rourke, who most recently served as sales market manager for the Nordics, brings over 25 years of experience at H&M to her new role. She began her career at H&M on the shop floor and has held 14 roles across store operations, area management, sales markets, and global HQ.

In her new position, O'Rourke will oversee more than 200 physical stores in the UK and Ireland region and approximately 7,000 colleagues. She will also manage the digital platforms in the region.

O'Rourke's focus will be on growth, innovation, and deepening customer connection. Her appointment reflects H&M's commitment to creativity, craftsmanship, and a more elevated design direction. The upcoming event at London Fashion Week is a reflection of these commitments, as well as H&M's focus on growth and innovation.

The UK & Ireland region is one of H&M's "most significant markets globally". O'Rourke looks forward to building on H&M's strong foundation and driving continued success in the region.

Henrik Nordvall, who is stepping down from the position, expressed his confidence in O'Rourke's abilities. "Karen has a deep understanding of retail operations and a proven ability to lead transformation," he said. "I am confident that she will continue to drive the success of H&M in the UK & Ireland region."

O'Rourke's role will be instrumental in shaping the future of H&M in the UK & Ireland region. The upcoming event at London Fashion Week is a reflection of the exciting direction that H&M is taking in the region.
